Traditional Home Design

Lindal Traditions home designs are inspired by a love of the land and rich heritage of residential architecture in North America. Our Traditional home plans combine the quality and craftsmanship of the past with the easy flow and spacious, light-filled designs made possible by Lindal post and beam home construction.

Starting as small as 2,000 square feet, the signature elements of a Traditional Lindal cedar home design remains true to early traditional home plans. Traditional designs are defined by:

  • Decorative posts, wrap-around porches and gabled dormers that create a storybook appeal
  • Style, materials and craftsmanship of yesterday combined with all the comforts and conveniences of today
  • Inside, an easy flow of spacious, light-filled rooms make the home a joy to live in

Traditional Home Plan Series

Traditional red-painted Farmhouse with covered porch and gabled dormers Farmhouse: If you want the charm of a traditional farmhouse design with the open, light-filled interior of a Lindal, these homes are designed for you. Outside, a covered front porch runs the length of the house under a trio of gables: a second covered porch is conveniently close to the kitchen. Inside, natural light floods the post and beam great room, which is open to the kitchen and dinning room. Upstairs, a master suite and a home office claim the most private part of the cedar home with a romantic, lofty felling that comes from the high sloped ceilings and gabled dormers. The ingenuity of well-zoned floor plan honors both public and private spaces by devoting different parts of the cedar home to them, and creating an easy flow throughout. In the back of this home plan, the large deck makes a major design statement, with entrances to the master bedroom and family room as well as the dining room.
