Introducing Lindal’s Green Coast to Coast Program

See how easy it is to build green with the right company by your side.
On January 21, 2009, the homebuilding industry marked a major milestone when it adopted the National Green Building Standard™.  Lindal marks another industry milestone with our Green Coast to Coast program, the first such initiative planned to showcase the new green standard in 60 new Lindal homes across North America.

Lindal’s Green Coast to Coast program will demonstrate practical, proven ways to apply the National Green Building Standard across a wide range of geographies, climates, budgets and home styles. Each of these 60 Lindal homes will be a unique response to its setting in ways that reduce energy costs, create a healthy living environment, and ensure a lifetime of low maintenance through design and construction. Through this partnership with clients, we aim to demystify what it means to “build green” and show how easy it can be when you have the right company by your side.

We are in the process of selecting homeowners across North America to participate in Lindal’s Green Coast to Coast program. Some homes are already in the works, with groundbreaking soon to come. Lindal has a longstanding history of building environmentally responsive homes—with energy- and resource- efficient materials and designs that are in harmony with their site. We began working with the green standard in its formative days, when it was a set of industry guidelines developed by the highly respected National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB). Now that it has been adopted as an industry-wide standard, it gives homebuilders a verifiable third-party rating system they can use to achieve green certification. And it gives you a clear, consistent benchmark for building green.

Lindal’s Green Coast to Coast program is one of many ways we are leading the industry by supporting the new National Green Building Standard:

• Every Lindal home in our entire design collection will be available in our Green System, with specifications that meet the new National Green Building Standard throughout the home. Whether you want a classic bungalow or a twenty-first century modern, our new Green Building System makes it easier to build a certified green home. You can also choose to build your home in “any shade of green,” picking and choosing the aspects of green homebuilding that matter to you.  For most people, building for energy-efficiency is the first “green” priority because it saves money year after year, makes living spaces more comfortable all year round, and contributes to a healthier planet.

Lindal’s latest home designs are the work of Joel Turkel, who is internationally recognized for the natural beauty, livability and environmental sensibility of his residential architecture. Ranging from 2,100 to 2,700 square feet, these new Lindal homes incorporate the proven principles of environmentally-conscious design—including the inspired use of natural and sustainable materials, passive solar gain and shading, and whole-house natural ventilation.
