Lindal Cedar Homes Opens in New York
Major player in the custom home market launches midtown dealership

Lindal Cedar Homes, known for designing custom retreats in mountains and lakes, on beachfronts and in fields, for the first time has launched a dealership in a mid-Manhattan skyscraper-actually the brand's first dealership in any major city.
"We're moving the proverbial mountain as close as possible to our city clients," said Michael Harris, president of the original and largest manufacturer of custom cedar homes in the world. "After 62 years in business, Lindal has streamlined the home design and planning process to its essence. But to be successful, such a project still requires serious face-to-face time. Going back and forth from work or home to a property is a waste of time. Lindal is the only designer and manufacturer of custom homes large enough to be able to provide this service.
"We've picked the city to extend our service-rich process to busy people so that they can add planning a custom home to their schedules in spite of overbooked agendas," notes Harris. He's also an architect whose passion for designing homes with post and beam construction-Lindal's signature building system-has spanned 30+ years.
"Our Manhattan-based dealer, Max Auguste of Villamax Cedar Homes, will start and help guide the process. At no additional cost, a second Lindal dealer-the company has 130-will be near the homebuyer's property, whether it's in Dutchess County, N.Y., the Pocono's, the Hamptons, or Lahaina, Hawaii," adds Harris. "The local dealer can provide construction estimates, recommend builders, guide the project through required permits-even serve as a resource between buyer and builder throughout the construction process-as much or as little as the homebuyer wants.
Auguste's qualifications include 13 years in construction management, a BA in environmental design from the University of Buffalo and a Master of Science in facilities management from Pratt Institute's graduate school of Architecture/Construction & Facilities Management. Says Harris of Auguste, who will be conducting home design seminars: "He's also a crack building project estimator and director."
