Dasos | Modern Homes

The name Dasos means forest in Greek, and a forest was the setting of the concept for this design by OM Studio. The original Dasos was built near the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation in Wisconsin, and a couple of variations have been produced in northern Michigan. Being surrounded by trees provides a level of privacy that may allow for more transparency in the spaces of everyday life.

This design was inspired to be oriented towards a view along the axis of movement from the kitchen to the main bedroom, passing by the living room, a freestanding fireplace, and a study. The simple footprint geometry is reflected on the mono pitch roof featuring the Lindal beams along the entire length. Interior glass clerestory windows allow for these beams to be seen beyond the partition walls, thus making the space feel larger.
