Lindal Dealer Director Honored for Dedication to Sustainable Green Building
Long time representative and current dealer member on the Lindal Cedar Homes Board of Directors Dan Wise of the Grand Design Group located in Boalsburg, Pa. is one of 30 individuals nationwide to receive the first ever Home Innovations Lab National Green Build Standard (NGBS) Green Partner of Excellence 2014. Dan first committed to high performance, sustainable, green construction almost a decade ago, and has dedicated himself as a builder, educator, and advocate for the growing segment of residential construction ever since.
As a builder, his construction company Wise Construction is a Home Innovations Lab green partner and he is NAHB Green Certified Professional. Wise Construction has several notable green building projects, including the first NGBS Gold certified remodel in the state of Pennsylvania which happens to be his own home which was gutted by fire in 2008 and the first NGBS Gold certified Lindal Cedar Home in the country.
As a Home Innovations Lab Green verifier of the NGBS, Wise himself has verified home projects for other builders throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and his verifications include the second NGBS Gold Certified Lindal Home located in Rhode Island.
However, it’s Dan’s work with Lindal integrating Lindal Cedar Homes into this rapidly growing of the industry that was a major component that led to the award. In keeping with Lindal’s 70 year legacy as an industry leader, he spearheaded Lindal’s effort to becoming the first and only NGBS certified systems-built manufacturer in the country. These efforts continue to day, working with the Lindal management team, to incorporate green sustainable products and disciplines into all of Lindal’s product offerings. These efforts resulted in Dan being awarded the 2013 NAHB Green Builder Advocate of the Year.
Wise currently chairs the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Green Building Codes and Standards subcommittee and is an approved contributing expert for Proud Green Home. He also recently served on the 2015 International Code Council Green Building Code Development Committee for the energy and water standards.
