Lindal homes can be designed to incorporate solar panels and most other energy-efficient features. Several Lindals have been built completely off-grid. Read about this Colorado-based Lindal home as an example: https://lindal.com/blog/colorado-marciante-residence/
Your local Lindal representative can give you good recommendations on what to look for when purchasing land. If you have already purchased a lot, they will visit your property and help determine where to site the house and what the permitting requirements are. Lindal homes can and have been designed and engineered to accommodate any site restrictions, setbacks, WUI interface issues, or other constraints.
Yes, absolutely! If anything, it will retain its value for longer as it is a much stronger, longer-lasting building system.
The foundation and site prep, finish, electric and HVAC should be provided locally and are not included in the Lindal kit. Lindal provides design services including fully engineered construction plans, the entire weather-tight shell (architectural-grade posts and beams, premium framing materials, connectors, fasteners, siding, windows, doors, and trim), a vast list of options and material upgrades including high-quality finish wood trims, interior doors, stairs, and wall/ceiling liners, customer support, and a Lifetime Structural Warranty.
The Lindal windows are energy efficient with the highest industry rating for their ability to prevent air and water infiltration under the toughest test conditions. State-of-the-art, low-E argon glass is our standard for comfort, energy efficiency, and reducing fading of draperies and furniture fabrics. Relative to heating prices in your area, the cost to heat a Lindal home is usually lower than comparable homes. Due to the quality of materials and construction methods, a Lindal home is an energy-efficient home.
Your local Lindal representative will be able to help you explore financing options, recommend a lender, and help find the best home building loan option for you. Visit https://lindal.com/blog/financing-new-home-build/ for more information.
Lindal homes are manufactured off-site, carefully packaged, and delivered by container to the build site. Because of this, they are ideal for hard-to-access locations from narrow city lots to islands accessible only by water. Lindal homes have been delivered by trucks, ships, barges, and even helicopters!
Your local dealer can provide a list of several qualified builders in your area. Some dealerships offer construction services through a separate company, but it varies depending on the dealership. While Lindal reps may make recommendations, the choice of which builder to use is always entirely up to you.
Lindal Cedar Homes has a long history of working with clients in high-fire-risk areas in California and elsewhere. We ensure that their homes meet all the local fire codes and have experience designing homes that meet Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) codes. We provide foundation drawings that outline the walls and locate point loads. For an additional fee, we can also size the pads and footings with an engineered foundation, if required. However, additional information on your building site, such as topography and soil conditions, would be required. Lindal Homes can be designed and engineered to work with any foundation, depending on your requirements.
Lindal Homes can accommodate any heating or cooling system you prefer and whichever is best for the area where the home is being built.
Our average Lindal package for U.S. clients (design, plans, and exterior materials package) is $200+ per square foot. Generally speaking, the turnkey full cost – including construction, interior finishing, etc.- will be anywhere from 2-4 times the cost of the Lindal package ($500-$750+), not including site prep and improvements.
The final new home construction cost for a Lindal varies widely. Each choice made through the process, as well as your site topography and local labor costs, can have a large impact on the final cost of your home. You can help control costs by choosing the options that fit your budget and limiting the number of changes you make to the original design.
This is why we don’t have a standard, pre-printed price list of our homes. It’s also why final costs for the same basic floor plan can vary greatly. However, with the help of your Lindal Representative, you can craft a Lindal dream home within your budget. To get accurate price estimates, we encourage you to contact your local Lindal representative.
