The Krios is built on a 100-acre lot, but the clients wanted the house sited right next to the creek that flows along the back of the property, with intimate views of the surroundings. Designed to evoke the mountain ranch architecture common to the area of Colorado in which it was built, the roof stretches in a long trajectory from the gable to the bedrooms, with all the height in the central space. OM Studio Design worked with the clients to keep the axis of garage, mudroom, pantry, kitchen, and porch in one bookend of the house, with two bedrooms on the main floor on the other side. Upstairs is a study and two more bedrooms, with a balcony that looks down into the great room.
